The Cares Route, one of the most breathtaking trekking trails that can be done in Europe!

The Cares river route runs into the Picos de Europa National Park, between Caín (province of León) and Poncebos, in Asturias. A journey of 12 km carved with rocks and amazing views!

For those who enjoy hiking, visit the Picos de Europa and not go through this trail of 24km, it is almost sin (24 km back and forth). We spent 2:30h forth + 2h lunch and rest + 2h back = giving us a total of 6.30h.

Despite its extension it is one of the easiest trails to walk in the Picos de Europa. The unevenness of the whole walk is no more than 700 meters, and taking the first 2 km always going up, the remaining route is mostly flat.

The trail follows the river Cares between the two locations, always following along a magnificent gorge, known as the "Divine Throat". The views are amazing!

Thousands of people run these days the Ruta del Cares, making it the most famous rail of the Picos de Europa, and one of the most beautiful in all of Europe.
