In the last post we explained what the Workaway page is. We also gave other examples of organizations doing the same as Helpx and WWOOF. So what exactly is the difference between Workaway, Helpx and WWOOF, and which one should you sign up for?
Workaway
As we explained, Workaway is a database of people and organizations located around the world that are looking for volunteers to help them with a huge range of tasks since babysitting until help with farming or the upkeep of a large property.
Helpx
Helpx or Help Exchange is a similar database of hosts looking for volunteers to help with a wide variety of projects. Accommodation ranges from farmstays to B&Bs. Just like with Workaway, you create a profile and send messages to hosts that you’d like to volunteer for.
According to the site, the standard arrangement is 4 hours of work per day in exchange for food and a room. A 2-year membership is 20 Euros for everyone, regardless of whether you’re a single person, a couple or friends.
WWOOF
WWOOF (World Wide Opportunities on Organic Farms) as the name suggests, is a database of organic farms and smallholdings owned by people who are willing to provide food and accommodation in exchange for 4-6 hours of volunteer work per day.
The concept seems identical to Workaway/Helpx, but there are a few key differences. As they say, they have lists of organic growers and farmers who need help in many countries – and people who are willing to offer it in return for food, accommodation and the opportunity to learn about a different way of life.
The membership varies from country to country, but ranges between 15€ and 20€.
We have never tried any of the three organizations. Maybe one day, who knows! They look pretty similar, we just think some are more geared toward one type of work than others. In any case, you can always look for more information on the official pages.

The informations seems to be helpful. I love the article. I usually prefer staying at hostels but really want to try volunteering to have an insight into the lives of the locals. So i started looking for such platforms providing me with the hosts and i came across Hippohelp. I really liked it. Do you have an idea about it?
